Rejuvenation Therapies - Thapovan Ayurveda

Rejuvenation or Rasayana Chikitsa is a traditional therapy to restore the body’s vitality to its fullest capacity. The primary objective is to fine tune the body and strengthen all the tissues. It helps increase ‘Ojas’- vitality and improve ‘Sattva’- mental clarity, thereby increasing the resistance power of the body. The therapy involves face and head massages using medicated oils, powder, steam by hand or foot, internal medicines and diet control.

Abhyangam

This is a purvakarma to Panchakarma a compleate body massage with medicated oils that results in decreased stress, removal of dead skin lyayeres, increased peripheral blood circulation, toning muscles, and also work as body and mind relaxer.

Please Note:

  1. For people with Vatha Dosha, the therapy is advisable four to five times a week with vata shamana oils such as Dhanwantarm thailam, Narayana thailam etc.
  2. For people with Pitta Dosha, the therapy is advisable three to four times a week with pitta shamana oils such as Sahacharadi thailam, Pinda thailam etc.
  3. For people with Kapha Dosha, the therapy is advisable one to two times a week with kapha shamana oils which is safflower based.

Rejuvenation Massage

In this therapy, medicated oils are used to massage the whole body. The process of anointing oil to the body is different in this procedure as compared to the process in Abhyangam. The therapist are trained enough to study the patient’s body condition and accordingly address the stressed parts of the body. Doctor’s consultation is not required for otherwise healthy person because the therapists are well versed with the musculature of the body and can handle simple spasm or strained muscles. The duration of this therapy is longer than Abhyangam thus providing more relaxation and making the person feel rejuvenated.

Shiroabhyangam

Shiroabhyangam focuses on head, face, and neck, the areas which happen to be the commonest and most vulnerable to stress and tension. Massaging the head from time to time brings about a state of calmness, positivity, and tranquility. The Ayurvedic texts have indications of daily oil application on the head, particularly on the crown and ears before bath and head bath with plain water for a healthy living. The oil is kept on the crown (adhipati) for a while. Coconut oil is the widely used oil for head anointing. One can find hundreds of coconut based medicated ayurvedic hair oils for application and massage. Oils are made as per the condition of the patient for eg. Migraine, sinusitis, dental ache and problems, eye disorders, ear disorders, bad breath, insomnia, and mental illnesses.
